Penrith Collector Con: Running the one shot sandbox Escape from Revel's End, where no one escaped but the prisoners reformed the prison system

This was not my 1st time running the adventure Escape from Revel's End but my 1st time at Penrith Collector Con and it was a lot of fun! The adventure is based off the prison map of Revel's End from the official Wizard's of the Coast Icewind Dale adventure campaign, modified to be a sandbox prison "escape". I put the word escape in the quotation marks because what if the patients instead of escaping, begin to run the asylum? This is that story.

The players take control of various CR5 monster stat blocks including: drow elite warrior, transmuter wizard, swarm of cranium rats, frost druid among others. My most memorable sessions previously of this adventure was the drow elite warrior shooting the warden while he was employing a fly spell leading to his unconsciousness and crashing down and instantly dying or in another case locking that same warden in the anti-magic prison.

This particular adventure started of amazingly when one of my players asked me the gestation period of swarm of cranium rats, leading to a failed constitution roll that left many in the swarm pregnant but no newborn (she was playing a swarm of cranium rats named "Rats"). Meanwhile the Zakya Rakshasa (Wanda) of the group was suffering withdrawal having been parted with her "comfort" javelin and had an unexplained beef with Rat 11 of the swarm. The third member of the dynamic trio managed to succeed on a sanity check (since she was playing the mad transmuter wizard - Scarlet) still decided to draw unwarranted attention by casting fireball the nearest group of guards. As her player explained sanity just made her point the spell in the right direction. To be fair, she has disclosed fully at the start that rather than wanting to escape the prison she just wanted to watch something burn.

In the end rather than escaping from Revel's End, the Lord Alliance's top secret prison in the far north overlooking the Sea of Moving Ice, Wanda became the new warden through her disguise self-spell and now leads daily yoga exercises in the morning. Scarlet became the prison chef after turning the warden (her previous mentor as a young student wizard) to a piece of cheese.
