Finally, the Nitro Oni sees some success in the campaign, Optan is rescued

"Are you ready for a show?!"

The crowd sitting in their high seats around the area screamed. In the middle a crucible of molten metal had been set into the ground. Optan was crudely shoved to its edge as the awaiting bestial gangers of the Major stood arrayed. The Beast Tamers were ready to put on a show.

"Is everyone in position?" queried Hegon.

The Nitro Oni were arrayed on all four sides of the arena, including some unexpected allies sent by Regha's mother, Optan's sister, and the two new cyberarachnids that scampered next to two champions. They had learned a valuable lesson in their humiliating loss against the Badland Banditos - spread out and have overlapping fields of fire.

"You're up Jaewe" Regha muttered to the sub-tek across from him in behind the cover of the arena wall.

Jaewe hesitantly stepped out into the open and picked one of two photon flash grenades he had bought, activated it and lopped it against the leader of the Beast Tamer. He knew he was expendable if he could take some of these gangers for even a round it would be worth his life.

The grenade flashed and the leader and a ganger next to him clutched their eyes. Success!

With the battle opened, Regha opened up with his twin autopistol and plasma pistol taking one of the beast handlers of the Beast Tamers who went down to a hail of autopistol fire. The damn plasma pistol missed again, the Nitro Oni had a curse with plasma weapons. The crocodile made a quick exit as it saw its handler go down.

Gres Ti landed a perfect hit against three targets, including one seriously injured ganger that had crawled to his friend, leading to general mayhem, chaos and the screams of the arena crowds.

Hegon was almost taken down by another animal handler and his cyber-mastiff but turned the tables when he was saved by his ablative overlay and his cyberarachnid Mi Mi webbed the unfortunate ganger leading to a quick coup de grace by the temporary leader of the Nitro Oni.

Ki Ki, Regha's cyberarachnid webbed the leader after Jaewe managed to take another Beast Tamer with his second photon flash grenade but Regha's charge ended up short.

In a bait and switch one of the temporary members of the Nitro Oni distracted the Beast Tamers, allowing Jaewe another round in this fight. He used it to charge the leader of the Beast Tamers, easily reaching him using his greater agility as sub-tek. He grabbed one of the floating recording servo-skulls and bought it to his face.

"You want a show?"

With the other hand Jaewe seized the collar of the webbed leader dragging him to the mouth of the execution crucible.

"How about this for a show?"

Jaewe shoved the leader into the crucible, the scream of the leader showed the howls of the crowd in symphony of pain and excitement reaching a crescendo as the molten sizzled reducing the once tougher ganger to slag.

The remaining Beast Tamers ran.

Optan smiled at Jaewee, looking at his now empty bandola of photon flash grenades. "Best 15 credits I ever spent."
